According to this episode, I guessed right about a whole bunch of things. Since that almost never happens, excuse me while I gloat quietly for a moment………………………………………………………………..All done. On with the post.

I knew letting Shane out of jail was a bad idea. The first thing he did was show up at the inn to hold everyone at gunpoint until they handed over J.D. Of course, that didn’t work out as planned because J.D. had already been killed at the marina and taken to the morgue. While there, Jimmy picked up some papers that fell out of J.D.’s pocket and gave them to Henry, who eventually gave them to Abby. They turned out to be pages from John Wakefield’s prison diary where he talks about having had a child with Abby’s mom, Sarah. Abby immediately assumes he means her.

My second crack-laden theory has been that someone in the wedding party is the son or daughter of John Wakefield. I even thought it might be Abby until I saw the gender neutral reference to the child and Abby immediately jumped to the conclusion she was that child. It’s a little too soon for the reveal of who the child might be, and the ultimate reveal will probably be more dramatic and conclusive than what we’ve seen so far.

Meanwhile in his neverending quest to win friends and influence people, Shane immediately used that information to try to turn everyone against Abby because (a) it gave everyone someone to turn against who wasn’t him, and (b) he doesn’t like Abby because she keeps horning in on his bromance with Jimmy (seriously, have we ever seen anyone like Shane except for Jimmy?).

When everyone was finished yelling about whose fault it was that they were being hunted down one by one, they finally noticed that Beth was missing and broke into groups to look for her. Sully and Danny found blood in one of the staff areas, which led to the discovery of Prohibition era tunnels under the inn. The blood trail eventually split in two, forcing the search party to split up as well. Each tunnel ended in a tiny little crawlspace. Danny found this week’s first unfortunate victim, Beth, in one of them. Abby was trapped by a falling grate in the other.

Jimmy and Henry went for tools to try to move the grate, but Abby decided not to wait for them. She crawled in the only direction she could and wound up in another tunnel with another crawlspace. When she crawled into that one, someone grabbed her ankle and tried to pull her out. Whoever it was, I don’t think it was the killer. The killer has to have been small enough to fit into the crawlspace where he dumped Beth, but this person didn’t chase Abby when she kicked free, so he might not have been able to fit into that small of a space.

Abby eventually made it into a new tunnel where she found the missing Madison napping on a cot. The two of them made their way to a manhole where they were able to catch the attention of a passing truck, which happened to contain Trish and Shea on their way to consult the bachelorette party psychic about Madison’s whereabouts.

As they were headed back inside the inn, Madison asked Abby if she’d enjoyed the game (I knew it!) and said that Sheriff Mills had taken her. His alibi of being treated by Cal for a pointed stick in the thigh went out the window when Cal woke up from life-affirming, we’re-not-dead-yet sex with Chloe to find the sheriff missing from his sickbed. Still, there’s no way the sheriff was in any kind of shape to be doing all the running around the killer’s been doing lately. Maybe the sheriff did take Madison to keep her safe, or maybe whoever took her only told her to say it was the sheriff as part of the game.

While everyone was congratulating themselves on finding Madison and surviving until dawn, Shane discovered this week’s other unfortunate victim, Katherine Wellington, who got skewered with hedge clippers through the back of the sofa. Personally, I can’t believe that given a choice between Katherine and Shane, the killer chose Katherine. I wish Shane would hurry up and become a victim, but I suppose the show needs him to be the red herring suspect now that J.D. is dead.

  1. Hmmm. It just occurred to me. Did Madison say the sheriff told her to make the call, or did she say your dad?

  2. Ahhh, thanks, Sandy. So no ambiguity there.
