FAQ

Got questions?  We have some answers.

1.  Why are your reviews posted so inconsistently?  There’s no pattern.  It’s hard for me to know when my favorite show’s review will be posted.

We all have full time jobs and don’t get paid squat for this.  So reviews get posted as we get the time to write them.  That’s why we highly recommend you subscribe to our RSS feed.

2.  I posted a comment.  Why can’t I see it?

We screen all first-time comments.  Meaning, if you’ve never posted a comment before, we hold it until we can actually approve it.  Once we approve your first comment, you’ll be able to make further comments and will see them immediately.

3.  Why would you not approve a comment?

First of all, comment spam is getting very sophisticated.  We have a filter, but it doesn’t catch everything.  Secondly, every once in awhile we get a comment that isn’t appropriate for our site.  These include overly enthusiastic comments, all caps, many misspellings, use of “text message shorthand” instead of real words.  We prefer intelligent discussion.  (See FAQ #7 below.)

4.  There are certain authors I prefer over others.  What shows does a particular author review?

We’ll be posting a table of what shows are reviewed by whom.  Look for it shortly.

5.  There are a lot of shows you aren’t reviewing.  Why?

See our tag line?  “These are the shows we like.  Deal with it.”  Yes, we’re being a little funny, but because of our answer to FAQ #1, we don’t have time to watch and review shows we don’t really like.

6  C’mon!  No one here likes Battlestar Gallactica?

It’s true.  None of us watch Battlestar Gallactica.

7.  Well gosh.  Can I apply to  review one of the shows that isn’t covered and become a Sci Fi Chick?

Absolutely!  Just contact us.  Let us know which shows you’d like to review.  It’d be helpful if you send us a review of a show you watch (or point us to it if it’s on the web).   We’re looking for good insight into the show and good writing style.  Just be aware we are kind of grammar snobs and might not accept all comers.

8.  I’m a guy.  Can I apply to be a  Sci Fi Chick?

Sure!  You can be Sci Fi Chuck.

9.  I see some canceled shows listed in your author information.  Why?

One word—syndication.  If the show ends up in syndication, we might consider covering it if enough people are interested.

10. Why, for the love of God, is Knight Rider listed in your categories? Shouldn’t it be canceled already?

First, it was a mistake.  Second,  yes it should.

Got a question not asked here?   Just contact us and we’ll reply and post it if it’s something a lot of people might want to know.
